It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
