A Controversial Road to Victory
Touadéra's campaign focused significantly on his stability record in a chronically volatile country.
"We witnessed a methodical attempt to influence the result," stated rival candidate Anicet-Georges Dologuélé.
He has faced significant criticism since a 2023 referendum abolished presidential limits, paving the way for his ongoing candidacy for office.
Election Details and Disputes
Over 2.4 million people were registered for the December 28th general election, which monitors called largely calm notwithstanding logistical setbacks.
According to provisional data, Touadéra secured 76% of the ballots.
- The president's main rival, ex- Prime Minister Anicet Dologuélé, received fifteen percent.
- Another ex- premier, Henri Dondra, trailed with three percent.

The authorities has firmly rejected these claims.
The Nation Mired in Instability
The CAR remains one of Africa's least developed and most unstable nations, despite its wealth of minerals like diamonds and radioactive ore.
The landlocked country has been mired in violence since 2013.
A 2019 agreement contributed to ease hostilities, though a number of armed factions subsequently pulled out from the pact.
Regional Repercussions
Analysts suggest that Touadéra's win could strengthen the interests of the Russian Federation, which has provided security support in exchange for rights to lucrative assets.
The CAR was among the first continent states where the Russian mercenary group Wagner became operational, providing protection to Touadéra's government.
The Constitutional Court has until 20 January to adjudicate any appeals and proclaim the final results.
