An individual who laced treats with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities again.
She said the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
