The sport of boxing has been a significant decline this year, with a scarcity of big events and markedly reduced thrilling fights than typical. The gap between Parker's level and where people think I am has been a frequent topic in my boxing life.

“He has vast experience for a long time, with a many bouts on his resume. Certainly not is he an old man but he has been in the boxing world for a long time and had some heavy fights. I too have faced intense battles and I understand they take a toll. He has been in a lot more of those than me.”

But the suspicion remains that Parker is likely to be too veteran, and too skilful, for Wardley. He is expected to triumph a hard-fought contest with the confidence that he is the leading contender for Usyk – still the world’s best heavyweight by a clear gap.
