Los Angeles Erupts in Jubilation as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Championship
Los Angeles experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Fans across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos depict countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many displaying homemade signs and team flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an translator.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and Ice Cube driving a light blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began prior to the procession, with supporters lighting flares in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he stated. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
In contrast, Mark Walter received a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a combination of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts interrupting his address.
The World Series acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate quarter-million people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
