19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from March of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
