Adam Wharton A debut start for his country. Slightly loose on the ball but his dangerous deliveries were a threat. A handy tempo-setter available to the boss to utilize versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash tackle. 6

The midfielder Crosses on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Was given freedom to drift down the left flank only to be in an offside position upon receiving in shooting positions. Awarded a deserved rest around the 60-minute point. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward position down the right while also put in dirty work. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance and scuffed an effort over. Replaced in the closing stages for Rogers, his competition, after being booked. 7/10

The winger Had England’s top opening in the opening period, his strike excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate holding position, he was forced to provide width out wide although his balls from the touchline varied in quality. Substituted with 15 to go. 6/10

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his 77th and 78th goals for his country. The first a typical close-range tap-in while the second a classy finish with his head after peeling away off his defender. Now 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity next summer with him leading the line. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to get into the game from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity when set up by the midfielder but the keeper denied him. His replacement produced a bigger influence when substituted. 5/10
