The UK is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked more than £25bn of Russian resources since Russia initiated its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had exclusively been taken from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that further sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This statement is subsequent to European Union leaders gathered in Copenhagen previously to debate employing seized Russian funds for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to confiscate or utilize immobilized Russia's holdings, based on reports.

The worth of frozen Russia's holdings in the EU is assessed to be almost €211bn.

Moscow carried out widespread bombardments throughout the Ukrainian territory on that day, leading to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

While commending the United Kingdom's firm backing for Ukraine, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the program, as well as enforce further restrictions on Russia.
